About Lila McGrew

Where to begin?

I was born in Minnesota and raised in Wyoming.  I have also lived in Florida, Idaho and Namibia.  I currently live and work in Everson, Washington.

I was born into a family of builders and don’t believe I’ve ever lived in a finished house.  Every house I’ve ever lived in has been in some stage of construction or re-construction.  Today is no different, much to my family’s chagrin. A full accounting of our most recent family experience is provided in “Adventures in Remodeling”, parts 1 through 4.

I gave up a career in education to return to school and become an engineer.  Suffice it to say, I was not suited for the classroom, but that training is evident in my engineering practice.  I do a lot of explaining, especially to home owners, the whys and wherefores of what I do.  My clients have appreciated the extra effort I make to increase their understanding of the design and construction processes in addition to the practice of engineering.

I worked for Geiger Engineers for 6 1/2 years and learned a great deal working with a team of dedicated and innovative engineers.  When I say innovative, I mean it.  Geiger Engineers pioneered air supported roof and tensile membrane structures.  Several of the principals, past and present, hold patents on systems they developed.

There was never any hesitation to try something new, and that philosophy has contributed to my success in my business.  I enjoy projects that are out of the ordinary and I do not fear trying new things.

I officially opened the doors to Evergreen Engineering & Design, LLC on March 1st, 2004, which also happened to be the 40th Anniversary of the day of my birth.  I couldn’t think of a more appropriate way to start the second, and better, half of my life.

Thanks for reading.  I hope my efforts to educate are worth your time.
